Overview
Concordia winter Station has been opened since 2005. It consists of three buildings, linked by enclosed walkways:
- one cylindrical, three-storey-high buildings will house the sleeping quarters, the communication room, the laboratories and the hospital and is called the "quiet building";
- a second cylindrical, "noisy building", will house the workshop, the kitchen and the restaurant;
- a the third building, made up of eleven container size modules, will house the the waste water treatment plant, electric power plant, the boiler room and a second workshop.
The station can accommodate 16 persons, during the winter, and 32 people during the summer season.
The typical winter population can be made up of four technicians for the station maintenance, nine scientists or technicians for the science projects, a chief, a cook and a medical doctor.
